I first contacted the Dispute Settlement Board on 8/7/03 after a local Ford tech told me the performance was normal and I would have to live with it. My response to him was a little less than polite. The Ford engineer was out twice in an 8 day period in September. They reflashed twice and replaced a couple of injectors. Once the engineer said Ford couldn't fix it, attitudes changed. Ford charged a mileage allowance but paid full price for all the addons, ie hitch, tool box, aux fuel tank, etc. One admonition, save all receipts and be sure they have your name on them. I bought the aux fuel tank through a friend, the receipt had his name on it and that alone caused a couple of weeks delay. Anyway the new one was delivered to me on 11/7/03, three months to the day after the process was started. I dealt directly with the owner of the local dealership and he went out of his way to help in the process. The new F350 was built the 2nd week of Oct. and has the '04 engine.
Alaska F250: It was a 43 gallon ATTB and came with a 6 way valve as part of the installation kit. It was necessary to cut the fuel lines to install the valve. I installed a second fuel gauge and wired the new gauge with an ignition hot circuit so I always knew how much fuel was in the aux tank instead of going with their gauge system. I think their web site is www://auxtank.com if you need more info. I believe their installation package is available as a separate item if you already have a tank. The instructions were a little complex but very complete.
i have like 5500 in after market stuff on my truck there going to repay me and there gonna charge me gfor mileage its only like 150 bucks, cause my truck went to the dealer at around 500 miles, now ford is ordering me a new truck a 04 6.0 hopefully it wont go to the dealership 12 times in 6 months. but ford is gonna kick down with alot of money and put me in a better truck. well see what happens. ANY THING YOU DO TO YOUR TRUCK, SAVE YOUR RECIEPTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR GONNA GET A LEMON!!
Great info guys thanks and yes I did save all my reciepts about 15k worth but since some of the stuff is so easy to change I thought I would just transfer from old truck to new one will they let you do that? and how do they figure the milage charge based on the first time it was seen? I had over 20,000 miles before the first visit.
The formula from shiftkx is the same formula Ford used for me. In my case it was indeed the mileage at which I first took it to the dealer for service. I think Ford will actually transfer anything that is moveable to the new truck themselves. In my case any accessory that I had added that defaced the truck in any way by its removal Ford wanted left on the truck. Ford paid me full retail price for the accessory as long as I had the receipt. I believe they will also reimburse you for any installation cost that you have receipts for. In my case they ended up owing me over $800 when all was said and done and they cut me a check for it. PullRites SuperSlide cost me $2495 installed. They didn't quibble over the cost. If you buy an identical '04 you shouldn't have to pay any extra for the truck. I had to pay the difference in the MSRP between the '03 and the '04. Good luck on the swap.
my sticker price on my 03 was 42k i told ford if im gonna have to order one i want a bunch of cool options like moon roof sport package etc.. the rep said no and i said ok gimmie my money ill go buy another chevy, so she got her manager and he said he will cover it, so my new truck that is on order is like almost 45K
and they are covering everything even my 8in lift and my 38 in tires, but the only thing that sux is i have to drive this truck untill jan or feb when my new truck comes in. Cya
Thanks again, this is such a good place to get the real deal all this info will help I mailed in the paperwork monday so I guess it will take a few weeks for FMC to respond. My truck is not out of the shop yet almost two week this time.
Oliver It sounds like you got to name your deal thats great of course none of us want to go through this in the first place so we should get something. My truck was about 45k or so new, the only options I did not get was two tone paint and a moonroof and so I ordered a new one just the same. I do have about 15k of add ons and I don't mind transfering some or all but it will take 4-5 days to do it all will FMC cover this labor?
if you have reciepts for labor and parts FMC will cover, if they dont cover ask for the manager or say your gonna go get a chevy and you and your family will never buy a ford again, Thats what i told them when they were dicking me around
Thanks Oliver I will have all my reciepts ready for them. I wonder how high they would jump if I said I will just sell off my fleet of Fords work trucks and buy all chebbys or dogs !!!!!
all i gotta say is they will do anything and everything to keep you a customer!! lets say your truck was 41k and you pick one that is 45k and they say you gotta pay the difference tell the rep you want the manager now!! and tell the manager whats up and they should upgrade you.. have a great weekend guys..
