Maybe one of our physics majors can help us - all cars w/similar braking systems should brake the same, all else but weight equal. I don't think weight is a factor as long as the brakes are strong enough to turn the ABS on. I could be very wrong but it seems to me if the expedition tire, and the chevette tire have the same coefficient of friction then they would brake the same, independant of weight/etc. To go a step further, wouldn't the expy brake better due to the weight distribution? 8 cyl motor directly above the front tires??

I don't know just trying to figure it all out.

Weight is the big factor in stopping distances. The tire patch in contact with the ground helps when it's bigger but the dynamic (moving) force is greater with more weight. Phsyics squiggiks.

the inertia is greater with more weight, correct - however the force on the tires is equally greater, causing more friction... I do not remember the equation but I do remember weight cancelling out.
