Originally posted by FarmForward My old truck quit me at the farm (about 5 miles outside town), so I drove my tractor home and parked it in my driveway. Next day I get a visit from the mayor who tells me I can't do that, and next time it'll be towed out of town.
Too bad you didn't have one of those big Caterpillar tractors on tracks.....I would have paid to see that towed!
heheehhehe...some of the stupid things my folks(NJ) have been visited by the police for..."we were teaching our dogs to kill squirrels and rabbits"...parking in an unpaved portion of the yard/driveway...having visible garbage cans from the street...and my favorite, putting a car for sale(they didn't like the sign) on our yard.

That reminds me of a woman that painted her front door purple, the town had a fit but could not do much about it.
we had the cops here once to tell me that the junk cars in the back driveway had to go. i said what junk cars and they went around back and pointed to them, they said that non running cars are not allowed on my proptery, i laughed first then got the keys and started them up. then they tried to pull the tags must be outa date, but they were not. then they tried to say they were an eyesore, and i siad to who ? but they wouldnt tell me, i know who though, the only neighbor who can even see my back yard. i told the cops that they can go that neighbor to stick it i wasnt moving them they are all legal and licenced and if the city had a problem with me having a liceenced vechile in my back driveway then i will see them at the next council meeting. havent heard anything from them since
Opiewan has it right. The conformity pigs came to my door with covenance rules in hand complaining about my boat in the driveway. (2002, new cover, could not possibly be considered an eyesore). I told them if they pressed the issue, I'd get a mini-windmill, flamingoes, gnomes, concrete deer, mirrored *****, birdbaths and anything else I could think of which would be ugly. They backed off.

...Absolutely..!! Out of 500 homes in our HOA we are lucky to get 30 people to show up for a BOD vote!...pathetic really.
Thats the primary reason I not only vote but signed on to a committee, just to be able to keep some tabs the potential ego-maniacs out there...
1) Having my trailer parked on a "non all weather surface"
They said it had to be on a concrete or gravel pad. I had it beside the house out of sight. Yet they said i had to put it in front of the house on the driveway where it looked worse. My answer to this was this "I thought dirt and gas was as all weather as you can get"
2) While working on my 66 F-100 I primered it to all one color so it looked better, and put 97 F-150 wheels on it with good tires.
That way it looked decent. I got a ticket because if it stays undriveable for more than 7 days it has to be covered with a tarp or a car cover. SO I put a tarp on it. 2 weeks later they came back and said it had to be a car cover.
3) I left some of my tools, underneath the truck, under the carcover and they said i had to clean them up after each use. Even tho it was a few wrenches and a socket and ratchet.
4) I had a 5 gallon bucket with a lid on it that I had melted shut with a screw on center piece in the center of the bucket, around the side of my house, that I kept old oil in. I got in trouble because it wasn't good for the environment and a kid could get into it
A sheriff moved 2 houses down from me about 6 months ago, we have had only 1 conflict. He said my 66 was to loud at 9am in the morning, so I shut it off. 15 minutes later he fired up his motorcycle that was a lot louder and I walked down there and complained. We worked things out and everything is fine now, and I leave the truck uncovered. As long as I leave the hood and stuff on it, he said it's fine, and my bucket can sit there as long as it wants as long as its not oily on the outside
With all of this BS that yall keep talking about, it makes me love more and more of where i live. Up in the hills of arkansas, on 60 acres of land in the middle of a bunch of cattle farmers and woods. Nobody up here cares what u have in your yard or what u do. Its so nice, especially after hearing the problems yall are having to face.
thats why we need some rednecks in political positions..it would be a requirement that you have appliances, furniture, vehicles in your yard running or not, oil buckets laying around, etc...
naw im kiddin..vote for me if i ever run for president though.
