Hi all
my 69 360fe
I have replaced lifters, push rods, intake gasket, carb, distributor, double roller timing chain In the old boy and it is sucking way way to much air. Timing has been set and checked many times. Has a Rolling miss and loss of power. Does not smoke or use oil. Absolutely clean straight original truck. Really need help to figure out what is going on!
any help is appreciated
I am no expert, and my engine has not been refreshed like yours, but recently my engine was suddenly bogging down and stalling when I went off idle. I started a thread that received lots of replies and suggestions that may be helpful to you. The thread was started June 12th,is titled : Engine bogging down on acceleration.
I'm with the ones thinking you may have slipped the intake gasket trying to set that 90# intake on. Also makes me wonder if you got the cam and crank clocked right. 1 tooth off will act the same way.

This, most likely. Easy to check. Pull off that front cover and take a peek.

Why were you replacing the lifters and push rods? Lifters dished? Installed cam? Remember these old engines require a HIGH ZINC Oil to prevent wear on the cam and lifters. Most oils these moderns oil are designed for roller cams which do not.

truck set for years and although I pre lubed everything prior to running it. When I shut it down and went to start it later the perafin on the valves had stuck several of them. Bent push rods. So I just replaced all of it after spending hours freeing the valves. Cam is still in good condition. I run additives in the oil.
