what's that part??

when I took off the PS pump and A/C compressor off to do repairs on the pulley for the PS, I noticed a wire that was burned thru
from touching the manifold in past days. The wire (orange/white) leads to a push on connector with a threaded nipple. The valve
screws into a octagonal block that connect to the lower part of the block (next to the oil filter).

I cleaned up the wire, put heat shrink sleeves over the bared sections and put them inside new wiring loom protective shield.

what is the function of that piece of gear for?

Your signature says you have an ‘87 so that means you have a real oil pressure gauge and not an “idiot” light with a needle.

The dash oil pressure indicator on my rig has the needle style reading not the guage. Was built in 86, sold in 87.

I see...when the truck is running, it's around 3/4 up the guage. So willie must be putting out good pressure.

Those big bell type senders are for a gauge system and they were common to leak
Wonderful,
Somebody has replaced yours because of all the extra Teflon on the threads and it is cleaner than it ought to be

Then replace it again maybe
Because
It will probably still leak
We used to have "some" luck tightening the little nut on top
