I've found out that with minimal modification the over flow bottle from an 87-96 will fit in my 84. All you have to do is drill a new hole in the plastic like in this photo, and either shorten or bend the other so it goes all the way in the fender slot
If you want to be proper and keep the lower support all you need is to mock up and drill a new hole for the factory bracket. at the moment i just have it threaded into the metal but, I might change that out for a riv-nut in the future.
Here's a look at it installed, I'm sure someone's done it before and probably better but i haven't seen it and i think this is simultaneously a nice upgrade and some future proofing since the later trucks seem to be getting a lot of aftermarket support
Nice. I was looking to see if that would mount up because my truck didnt come with a bottle. I ended up just going with aftermarket ones myself. Never been a fan of the stock setup, and if I ever want back no big deal.
If you look the 2 chambers are swapped between the years.
Also the easy truck only had a over flow tank not a recovery tank.
The difference is where the hose is or goes. Over flow the hose came in the top and did not reach to the bottom (out of liquid) of the tank where Max has the hose in the bottom (in liquid).
If the hose is not in liquid when the motor cools down it can not pull liquid back into the cooling system.
BTW my hose goes in the top but I made the hose longer so it sits close to the bottom and in liquid.

But for our trucks and think years it came both ways depending on early or late in the years.
Both of my 81's were overflow from the factory.

This is good news to me because I really need to do something about the jankiness in my truck😂
I am not seeing a lug wrench how you change a flat tire
I see Max has the wrench and the jack handle and guessing the jack.
I have all 3 ........ but the wrench dose not fit the aftermarket lugs so I have a wrench behind the seat with 5 normal lug nuts.
Now a jack is a different story after lubing it it still dose not work but it looks good
Dave ----
Of course my jack works, it is mounted in the location. But many years ago, I decided I needed to put a old socket as a spacer on the mounting wing bolt. If you zoom in you can see it there on the inner fender behind the solenoid.
It's been lubed and sprayed with fluid film.
Thanks for giving me credit. The truck may not be pretty, but it is always in safe running condition. Never know when one of the family or friends may need Dad's old truck.
