Oil getting into turbo
First off, hello! I'm brand new to the forums and brand new to diesels. I've just inherited my dad's old 1993 F-350. I drove it from his home in TN to my home in CO. It's a great old truck and I'm trying to do my best to learn as much as I can to keep it running for as long as possible. The first issue I've run into is that I'm getting oil into the turbo. This is the factory Garrett turbo, and as far as I know nothing has been wrong with it before. After the drive to Colorado I noticed that it started belching out smoke from the exhaust and I see smoke coming from around the turbo. The other day I noticed a bit of oil dripping from the underside of the wastegate actuator. I'd really like to work on this truck by myself as much as possible (I really don't want to make this a money pit), but I'm not exactly sure where to start to identify what is causing the oil to get into the turbo.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.
