Hi guys, been a while. I sold my 03 7.3 Lariat F350 to a friend about 8 years ago and now it seems it needs a tps. Since it’s a Lariat and has adjustable pedals the part is $700-800. For a non-adjustable pedals model same year it’s around $80 or as little as $25 for a cheap knockoff.
So my question is, can you modify a regular tps to fit this or do you really have to spend the big bucks for this one?
I just did this on my 02 F350 4x/DRW/CC/Lariat I opted for going with the non-adjustable pedal assy as I couldn't justify the $800 for the adjustable one. I took the old one apart and really couldn't see a way to move the adjustable part over... the non-adjust assy bolts right in place, plugs in and works just fine with no issues.
If someone was really good, and had the stuff,, what wore on mine was the contact strips on the board, the little arms slowly wear the surface down, I don't think I took any pics of it, I'll dig through my phone and see.
I did adjust the brake pedal down to it's furthest spot from the seat so it's closer to the accel pedal.
So did you replace the whole pedal assembly so you could use the cheaper throttle sensor, or are you saying the throttle sensor for the non-adjustable assembly fit in place of the OE one on the adjustable assembly?
Yes, I bought the ~$80 unit and just rplc'd the whole pedal assy, I never really used the pedal adjustment anywhos. And when I found out they wanted $800+ for it... I decided that it really really wasn't necessary!
The only thing I did was run the brake pedal all the way towards the firewall, installed the new assy and forgot about it, haven't even thought about it till I saw your post.
IIRC it was right around $87 otd, I bought it from NAPA, not going to trust a used one since it's an electronic/soft part. Been in my truck since shortly after Mother's day 2023 I think...
Yeah I would recommend a new sensor too but was wondering about the pedal assembly to make it compatible with the non-adjustable sensor. Was that included in the $87 or did you have to buy that separately and if so what was the source and cost of the pedal?
It's literally plug n play.. unplug old one, remove 3 nuts I believe, bolt new one in, plug it in, dun. Yes, that's it, that's all you need, it bolts directly in and plug into same conx
