cab mount bushing replacement suggestions?

HI everyone

We took the cab off our 74 F100 yesterday and pulled the motor, It's just a frame now and today a mobile sandblaster is coming to blast the frame. I need to get front body mount bushings (the rears are ok)

I'm in Ontario Canada so there's always an extra layer of fun with finding parts, and getting them shipped. Looking for suggestions or work arounds as we want to put the replacement cab back on asap.

Thanks!

Some say rubber is the best to go back with, because polyurthane can squeek. Due to the awesomeness to Tbear853 we have these measurements, if you need to install body mount repair washers. The PDF is a little bit better of a detailed installation of the front core support bushings.

I used the polyurethane set from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard yesterday. I can't complain about the fit of them, but can't comment on the ride yet.

I got a set in polyurethane in a auction, guy just never used them, but when I got to measuring, prepping to put them in, I found that my OEM rubbers had just some cracking on the outside surfaces, but were not in any way letting the cab drop. I read stories of ride changes, considered effects of harder bushings, and squeaks, and took a different course. When tightened initially, the factory pulled the two portions of washer / sleeves together and being a tight fit, they stop when a certain measure is reached. They may use well over 100 ft lbs but then after that "set", they only recommend 30-40 ft lbs so as to NOT further compress the hardware upon reassembly. I preferred to keep mine as set. I shimmed the right rear cab one that was not sagging as it had been just overtightened when new as that corner had been low since at least 1986, then I "girdled" the upper bushing halves that are in compression just using a single hose clamp at each.

Not to sway anyone's choice, just my approach. If I did replace two, I'd do all 6. Not my truck, I never went this far, but is what you'll need to pull the pieces apart. On the lower side is a nut welded to the low side of hardware and this pulls it all apart. I happened to have a 3-1/4" ID steel pipe that used to be a satellite dish pole, so is what I used as I did "make" one just to have if needed.

Rubber or poly those six bushings can have a profound effect on panel alignment so the "safe" way is to replace all six. Of course the condition of the mounting brackets and holes is important too. Serious rust issues need to be addressed first.
