I have a steering wheel, brake booster (reman) and a valley pan on order. Probably going to knock these off the punch list next. I wouldn’t mind trying to match the color of the existing intake manifold. I wonder what Ford color variant this might be……
I have never had any luck matching aftermarket blue colors. Maybe I keep the intake manifold bare? Argent silver?
Getting the correct blue is not easy anymore. what you need is definitely not ford dark blue. and it's definitely not new ford blue. it's ford blue, and that opens the door to problems.
Plastikote used to make a good match, now it's not. maybe they'll fix it I don't know. the other brands I've tried were a failure. now I only use paint from Motor Coater, better quality and great matches in color.
Motor Coater corporate blue looks about right. Might try it. Thanks.
Regarding brakes, my rotors have a runout of 0.006”. I’m thinking of replacing vs resurfacing. This RWD is 5x5.5 bolt pattern. Is there a good OE replacement you would recommend? I expect someone to suggest resurfacing due to repop quality concerns. Thoughts?
It worked on the rear drum brakes in the heat today. 100° and climbing. My rear brakes were locking up before the front. Passenger side seemed fine but the driver side somehow got way over tightened. That drum cover is a SOB - but after unwinding the adjuster and stopping in reverse a few times, it’s fixed.
I also bled the brakes for good measure. No issue there.
I still don’t love the feel of the brakes. I have to push a lot harder than on my other 77. And the rotors definitely need to be ground. I guess new pads, rotors turned, and bearings repack are next.
BTW I had a moment of weakness and bought some MaxOneXLTriphene spray — gotta say it’s pretty good stuff on the old paint.

Mine does that, and I think it's the bleeder valve on the combination valve. The valve gets pulled out to be able to bleed the fronts, and should spring back in. Mine seems to pop back out on its own, and when it does, it messes up the brake bias. I've been meaning to rig up some sort of strap to hold it in its innermost position.
