oil leak

let me begin by saying truck has 48,000 miles. i noticed some oil leaking from up above i sprayed the whole underside and after driving and checking i noticed the plug from the bell housing was leaking oil? unless it was coming down from somewhere else? if this plug is leaking what is the leak?

The silicone boots from Riff Raff Diesel last a long time. They hold up very well to the oil in the intake air system from the CCV.

Sounds good, process of elimination.

Just so you know the 6.0's are notorious for leaking oil from all kinds of places. It usually ends up on the bell-housing of the trans. Mine had a leaking cam sensor (o-ring was nicked) and the crank sensor still leaks (too much hassle) along with I'm pretty sure the bedplate seeps as well. At least with it dripping from the same spot on the bellhousing its easy to put a catch pan under it?

A new one I found recently, I had not torqued the intake manifold properly on a previous repair and was getting oil coming out of the driver-side intake gaskets, all over the oil cooler cover. That was making the nice "hot oil" smell after long drives. Seems to be better now that the intake is torqued properly.

i’ve had a few 6.0’s in the past all of witch leaked oil and it didn’t bother me as bad and this isn’t my daily driver.. just to where it’s leaking and the truck has 46k original miles and is 100% flawless it does bug me😂 i know they hold about 15 quarts of oil so it may or may not show on the stick between oil changes but where i’ll be taking it on vacation for a decent drive in july im just going to overthink the fact its leaking oil haha🤷🏼‍♂️
