From what i have read over the years here, it wont give you any HP gains unless you are above 250 HP range
It will reduce EGTs some but not like an intercooler will.
Some say it will clog with snow/ice faster so keep that in mind.
S&B here for the 7.3, scored it used. Would have paid full for it. I had their massive filter on my high 12 second 6.4 with I think some AFE kit I grabbed used.
I have an S&B. I like it. It is a nice looking piece of equipment.
With the intake snorkel over the battery and up close to the front of the hood, I just do not see how the airflow characteristics getting to the filter is really much of an improvement. I get it that nothing is sealed up under the hood and while driving the cooler air will be getting through.
I like how the Super Duty 7.3 has a more direct path of airflow through the engine intake and appears to also have an intake through the fender which should give a better charge of air. I could be wrong on the fender air intake but there looks to be one.
I'm not complaining, just curious if there was something similar for the OBS I wasn't seeing. Apparently not, LOL.
