Well, thats your version of my comment............ my comment was plain and simple, where others have commented about this being the reason to return ccv gases back to the turbo (its an EPA thing only). Having spell check "watching" with daily typing is bad enough, then you come along and proof read others and make corrections,..................strange.
LOL, I had this discussion before with others here ................seems they are convinced that the moist ccv gases lube the turbo and keeps the seals wet.

I'm a cop Jim... hence I'm a stickler for details. There's only one user here that I recall you had a conversation with about your stated claim...
You and I have had plenty of back and forth about the CCV reroute versus the catch can thing until you got offended by a sarcastic comment of mine...
I just wanted to make sure you weren't putting words in my mouth, if that was even the case but maybe not, as I never stated what you wrote.
If your expecting a come back from me you won't get one...........you'll probably rewrite that too. However, if you were to search all the diesel forums here (7.3, 3.0, 6.4, etc.) you might see the conversations in regards to ccv reroute,............meaning "others". And stop calling me Jim....its not my name.

Well @jimzpsd since we are conversing in the 6.7 section and that was what I was referring to, I really don't care about what other sections you have been commenting in or where conversations happen on that subject.
I remember the conversation that was had, once again here in the 6.7 section, with one individual in particular about the subject of CCV and the turbo.
You and I, and again, here in the 6.7 section, have had plenty of back and forth on my choice of a recirculating set up with the can instead of a CCV reroute.
I "editted" your comment because I reasonably assumed you included me in on the thought that CCV lubes the turbo seals or whatever it was.
So no worries, @jimzpsd I'll never call you Jim again.
Chadstick,
Back on topic, your initial post here was great - I've been meaning to post about the same thing. I'm in a quandary about which of the SPE CCV kits to get. I made a re-route on my old '97 7.3 and it stinks like crazy, plus drips oil around. That's my only hesitation in going that route, yet I'd like to keep the gunk out of the intake. I keep going back and forth between the external catch can and the internal screen. I'm leaning towards the screen initially because I'm not sure where to mount the can, and don't want to take it too far back to where I have sags in the hose causing more back pressure.
Have you installed your catch can yet? I'd love to hear if it stinks or not.
I've been gone from this forum for at least a couple years - it's nice to see a lot of the same names are still here.
JoeVH, no, I have not installed it. We are taking a job in CA for a year, so I packed it up til I get back. Don't want to take the chance of getting fined for having it on, and CA is the place that would do it. Instead, for now, I just installed a new OE filter. It is the newest filter, so it is much smaller and should be easier to remove when I get back. And those are my same hesitations with it too, however, I am not too concerned with oil dripping from it. Also, the 2 pieces of hose that SPE sent me are different lengths. I haven't measure them, but the one that came with the catch can is longer than the one that came with the reroute. I have thought about just using one piece of hose and going straight into the catch can, but some guys that do this complain about the smell coming into the cab since it terminates right around the front door. And like you say, the father back it goes, the more likely that it could sag... I guess I have about a year to think about how I want to do it before I get back and install it...
If you haven't already, check out the other recent threads here... there is more talk about this but with another companies catch can, and some with recirculating the vapors back to the intake.
