Post Looking for steering column diagram

I spent yesterday afternoon replacing the shifter rod bushings in my '99 F150, which I was hoping would fix my issue of not starting in park. It did clean up all the slop in the shifter, but it still doesn't start in park only neutral. I *think* it started while in park while the shift column was down & resting on my seat, but doesn't now that everything is back in place.

I suspect that there is some kind of neutral safety switch in the guts of the column that was shifted enough when I dropped the column to start, but doesn't now that the column is back in place.

I did verify that the torx bolts on the shifter linkage were tight (they were).

Does anyone have a link to a complete steering column diagram that may help me troubleshoot the issue. I *REALLY* don't want it to be a transmission thing. The other symptom is that the parking pawl doesn't engage when in park, but that may have been damaged a few years ago when the brake lines failed.

Any help would be appreciated.

See if your shift cable is frayed
Pull it off the base of the column and work it back and forth
It should shift like "click click click", no springy motion at all
Could just need a new TR sensor or to adjust the one you have
No park is a deal breaker
The parking pawl and its spring are just inside the rear housing of your transmission
I would sure be down to a junkyard quick, grabbing another park pawl, spring and pin, straight away to fix that

YouTube has videos on these types of steering columns.

The start/no start switch is on the transmission. Like manic mechanic said, check the cable and switch.

The neutral safety switch is on the side of the transmission. If it is bad or out of adjustment, the truck will not start. The actual movement into park is mechanical.

Just to add what others haven't thus far, there is no internal wiring of the column. All you have is the ignition switch, multifunction switch, and tow/haul switch if applicable, horn and air bag.
