Watch what gas you put in your old Trucks and lawn mowers.Gas stations are now using E15 gas in Reg and Mid grade gas with Premium using E10 in Illinois and other states. Joe
I have 2 local stations with nonethanol gas. I use that for my older vehicles, mower, chain saw etc.Expensive, but run much better and fewer fuel related issues.
Here in Iowa it depends on the convenience stores you are pumping at. Some sell nothing but various Ethanol blends E-10,E-15, even E-30. Some sell those and Non ethanol regular, some don't have the non Ethanol regular, but have non ethanol premium. Here in the upper Midwest there is a regional chain called Kwik Star or in some states Kwik Trip. (Not to be confused with the national chain Quick Trip). At the Kwik places here in my town anyway you can get E-10, E-15, and Non Ethanol Premuim. I filled my truck up there Wednesday and paid $3.94 a gallon for the premium if I recall.
Are the feds going to check everyone's gas tanks? Are they really going to punish someone for buying less than 4 gallons?! Talk about useless regulations.
I stopped for gas in Iowa about 10 years ago, in a car that I wanted to use premium in. The station had a high-octane pump with a lower price than mid-grade, but it didn't say that it had higher ethanol content. I asked at the register and sure enough it was something like E-15. It would have destroyed my car's fuel system ('86 Porsche).
To be clear, the 4 gallon floor limit is because some pump designs retain the prior customers selection in the hose and whatnot - it isn't purged. Thus the 4 gallon minimum is mandated to dilute the worst case mixture scenarios to the point of no consequence.

And I thought it was to keep radicals from filling a glass jar to make a Molotov cocktail! LOL
Funny story: many years ago I read in the paper that in the next town over someone made a Molotov cocktail and threw it. However, the idiot used a plastic soda bottle!
