Changed engine oil and filter after coming back from a 2500 trip because having to add 4 qts of oil. I have no leaks and don’t see any smoke out the tail pipe. After the oil change it seems like I’m going through 1qt every 500 miles. Truck has 56k. Would a bad turbo blow it though the inner cooler?
Thats an awful lot of oil for no leaks.
Have you looked at the Trans bell housing? Possibly a rear main seal and the oil is collecting in the bell housing?
Are you running a CCV to atmosphere or exhaust?
My first thought is it was under filled to begin with. If it’s still low after a change though maybe that’s not it. A bad turbo would blow oil into the intake tract through the intercooler. I would remove the tube from the lowest spot in the intake where it joins to the intercooler. Some oil coming out is normal, but if it is a large amount I’d say you’ve found your issue. Next thing to check is to remove the oil fill cap with the engine idling. Does is have a bunch of pressure behind it that makes it “pop” off? It should not. If it does there is either a ton of blowby from bad rings/scored piston or the CCV is plugged up. I don’t think there’s any way that oil could get mixed with fuel on a 6.7, but I could be wrong.
Thanks for the reply’s. I’ve taken it into the dealer ( still have extended warranty) they did an oil change and are doing an oil consumption test. Every 200 miles needs to be checked at dealer.
