So after the third Orielly alternator replacement since 2017 I ordered a Bosch unit, it looks great and doesn’t make clunky noises when I spin it… but I had to take the pulley off the Oreilly alternator and put on this one… that was a pain. And my manual doesn’t specify a torque for the pulley nut. Everything I saw online shows from 60-100 ft lbs.
I put the nut on with blue loctite, bumped it a couple times with the impact, used my strap wrench and torqued the nut to 65-70 ft lbs. that was all I could get without slipping the pulley.
good choice going with the Bosch. I don't trust any parts like this from the parts store. I think when I replaced mine it came with a pulley but I'm sure gutentight is plenty, especially with the blue loctite to help
Mine also has Duralast Gold alt too. Zero issues, hell most of my crap comes from them. I can only surmise the issues are from folks buying the bottom end units.
Look into good electrical shops locally to rebuild stuff. I needed an alt same day for my Fleetwood Brougham, local shop had in stock and ready to go.
