I'm building a 292 .030 engine and would like to install metric ringed pistons in it. Does anyone have a source for Y block pistons that fit standard piston pins and stock rods?
You might want to check with Total Seal. They have a setup where you put a spacer into the ring groove of a normal piston and then that allows you to run a narrower ring to cut down on friction and seal better.
I don't use Total Seal for a lot of things but I have used them for some weird stuff. A few years ago I did a 427 Ford with the original pistons. A ring set for that was not available anywhere but Keith Jones helped me come up with something that has worked very well for the customer.
