What are the best fuel additives that you use? Never was big on them until I started using them in my Optimax and seen good results (I know their apples and oranges)
I have a 2016 with 125,000 miles on it and would like to run it until 300,000 if possible. I do regular oil changes and anything to help my CP4 live longer I will try
There are a lot of different additives out there…some are wide scope and cover different areas like water, anti gel, cetane, lube, bio code, etc and some are targeted to one thing or the other like just certane, etc.
What I see a lot is folks using a cetane boost only and then cry when their cp4 blows up becuase they needed a lube additive and never used one.
analyze locally avail fuel and decide based on that what the fuel additive needs are…and follow thru

sone additives makes the analysis process easy
I specifically want it to give my CP4 a "fighting chance"
I use opti-lube XL at 1/2 the recommended dosage (1oz/20gal). Just figure to boost the lubricity a bit while minimizing risk to the DPF. Makes me feel better about things but can’t say for sure it’s a winning recipe.

This conversation is like which oil/grade is best and which OCI is best... and you know what they say about opinions.
I've been using K100D since about new, truck now has 138k miles and have had the S&S DPK Gen 2 installed for about two years now for insurance.
Started using Pittsburgh Power's Max Mileage FBC about two years and now use it with their newer additive Flashpoint in a mixed 16 oz bottle of 10 oz FP/6 oz MM (per their recommendations). Still use K100D.
It appears the FP is similar to K100D but adds more cetane than K100D does, hence why I'm using. K100 adds lubricity, is a fuel cleaner, fuel stabilizer, controls water and is an anti-gel (double dose in winter). I use MM to reduce the combustion temp of soot to help out my DPF.

So I've met your goal of running to 300,000k miles and I ran most those miles without an additive, but the diesel I mostly run has some bio additive. Having said that, I've been running Archoil for the last year and it clearly makes my engine run quitter and regens are less frequent.
I run a mix of 2/3 Summer+ and 1/3 XL and have some XPD on hand for sub zero F temperatures. This cocktail has worked well over the last 14 years and 150,000 miles. No fuel system issues.

Then there's Troy to make us all look bad... but I don't live in Texas and I use double the dose for anti-gel and for more possible water in the tank during the cold winter months from condensation.
You go Troy! Me? I'm way too OCD to not use additive... but not so much that I clip off the nubs off new tires.
As to regens, my last was about 440 miles out just from daily driving. I'd say I'm doing okay.

Been using EDT for years in all my diesels, from the 3 cylinder Kubota with Mechanical injectors, 23 years now purring nice and strong, my 2021 Kubota L4060, never misses a beat and DPF stays cleaner longer than the average, and my 6.7's. for the price per dose, its the best bang for the buck. Archoil is better in some situations but is also quite expensive and uses twice as much per dose. I tried one large bottle during the winter, saw no difference in anything compared to EDT, but going to try it again once my current EDT is used up and compare summer driving with it.
One claim of Archoil is the DPF stays cleaner longer, but saw no proof since my 24 regens like clockwork every 540 miles or so, and the filter never goes above 30%. I'll compare summer driving and DPF percentage and see if theres any improvement. I never let diesel sit long enough in the truck to worry about algae or gelling, so those additives are not on my list of must haves for the truck but I do use anti gel in my 50 gallon storage tank for the tractors.

Actually microbes, not algae, and if diesel has "bugs," it means it has water in it. Microbes need not only food (diesel), but water as well to grow in diesel fuel. Stop the water, no bugs. At least this is what I've read about bugs requiring water to grow in diesel.
