Wheel offset help
Howdy- new guy to the forum needing some help with wheel compatibility. My ‘01 F350 currently is lifted slightly and rolling on old school forged Welds (16x10) and 315/75R16 BFGs. The tires are tired and I’m ready to do something different with the wheels also. I’m looking to go with less offset so the tires don’t stick out so far, and either 18 or 20” wheel diameter. I’m seeing all sorts of 8x170 wheels but many say they’re for ‘05 and newer. What’s different about the older 8x170 SD trucks and why don’t they seem to be compatible? What will and won’t work for me?

If you use a website like customoffsets.com you can specify the wheel bolt pattern, diameter, width and offset. I believe 2004+ trucks had slightly wider axles, so stock wheels had a bit more positive offset (sucked in). Too much offset on the 99-03 super duties will cause the tire to rub against the leaf springs.
I personally run a 17x9 with -12mm offset and really like the stance/look.
