I have a 1986 f250 4x4. I broke the output yoke off the back of the transfer case to the rear drive shaft. I'd like to replace the u joints on both ends and also I need a new yoke. How do i ID correct yoke and u bolt size? I got a 1310 and it's too small. Am i a 1330? I know it's 32 splines. Thanks, I can take measurements and get more pictures if needed.
Your truck came with either a Borg Warner transfer case or a New Process transfer case. You need to figure out which one it is. Guessing, it might be a New Process transfer case.
What engine do you have? If you have a 302 then you have the lighter duty f250 and it may take smaller u-joints. If you have a diesel or 460, then it may take larger u-joints. What transmission do you have?
Its a bit of a Franken truck, it was originally a 460 c6, now its a 460 zf5. Pretty sure the transfer is an np208. I cannot find the u joint cups or pieces that broke at the yoke coming out of the transfer, but I do have the cups that attach to the driveshaft. They are 1"1/16. I am thinking this might have the 1330 x1330f u joint, where the cups on the yoke are 1"1/8 and the driveshaft cups are 1"1/16. (This is what i read anyway) the 1310 cups were too small for the yoke side out of the transfer case.
Without the pieces from the u joint or yoke i don't have much chance of the kid at the local autozone doing me justice. There is a driveline shop in the Springs I could visit. I might want to get the shaft checked anyway, but trying to get it back together first. Fortunately I can drive in front wheel only for moving it around anyway.
The driveline shop would be my choice for assistance. When my original sealed bearing u-joints came apart I was 1200 miles from home but right across the street from a driveline shop. Talk about lucky. My driveline was damaged in the mishap so I got a new one of those and all new greaseable u-joints. The drivelines you are comparing might not be original.
