Hi all
New member here. Looking at a truck for sale, and hoping to gain some info from the data sticker. From the body style I believe it to be a late 70s maybe 1980, LN600 or LN 700. I can find vin info charts for pickup class vehicles, and my manual only cover the old metal style id tags. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
U = Caterpillar model 3208N or 3208T 636 CID V8 diesel engine
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
GJ8685 = 1980 numerical series. (Fairly early production as the series ran GA0,001 to KA9,999)
No paint code--probably part of the special order
220 = 220 inch wheelbase
R712 = LN700 diesel, 24,000 lbs GVWR
BZ8
BZ = I do not have upholstery info for this model year
8 = Standard cab, cab and chassis vehicle
CG = Clark model 397 five speed direct transmission
E1M
E1 = Eaton model 16244 two speed rear axle, 17,500 lbs capacity, 5.57 / 7.75 ratios
M = Ford 7,000 lb capacity front axle with power steering
841054
84 = Home Office Reserve
1054 = Special Order Number. Possibly only the paint, but could be other things including the "Home Office Reserve" District Sales Office code. "Home Office Reserve" means it was delivered to the Ford Home Office in Dearborn for either Ford use, leasing to an employee, advertising use, or something else. If you search out "Ford Home Office Reserve" you'll find the classic car folks discussing in in several forums including a Cougar forum. Not even the Marti Report people are able to explain exactly what it means for various cars. They don't do anything over F350, so no way to get anything about this truck.
