Ive been restoring my 1991 f250 for the last couple of months and i can't seem to get the fuel gauge to work. Im pretty caveman level when it comes to electronics, the needle is pegged on empty on both tanks, one is about half and the other one is nearly empty. I have good ground, no corrosion on any of the plugs and seems to have signal from the sending unit. I did disassemble the dash to chage some light bulbs and dont know if it was working before. It also doesn't have a tank selector valve like a 92 model ?? I dont know much about them in quite new to all of this

If the gauge was disconnected somewhere along the line, it would read past full. Empty means either a direct short to ground, or perhaps your float is bad? That was a pretty common failure on these trucks back in the day.
Unplug the tank you are using at the fuel pump connector and see if the gauge goes to full with the key on. If so, that means the problem is in the tank.
Turns out that both sending unit are working, I have good signal from both all the way to the dash when the key is off but when the key is on the resistance jumps to 110 ohms in the dash and stays at 17 on the front tank (the rear one works just fine) looked inside the switch and cant see anything wrong
