Question 351W Questions

I'm working on a 1987 F150 with 351W. I put a new comp cam and roller rockers in. Now the stock valve covers won't fit. I bought some new aluminum valve covers but they don't have any holes for the breather cap. Do I have to cut holes in them or can the engine breath and function without the cap on the valve cover?
Thanks for any help.

Carburated? What about the oil cap? Usually, the the oil cap is vented to prevent pressure build up. Do you still have a PCV?

When I got it the engine was in pieces in the bed of the truck. I think the cap on the valve cover was the oil cap, so it looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to cut a nice hole in it.
Yes, it is carbureted. No to PCV.
Thanks

Often it's just the baffles covering the oil fill and PVC holes that contact roller rockers and trimming or removing those baffles is all that needs to be done.

Wrong valve covers.
I'd return them and get the correct ones with the holes for the breather cap and oil fill.
