I just bought my first diesel and I live in a state where there are no inspections or emissions so I'm planning on pulling some parts off of the truck. My goal is mostly to improve mileage and reliability, I intend to run a stock power level for the time being. Whatever kit I buy, I plan to order a pretty substantial muffler, I don't need the truck to be super loud.
The question is: from where should I buy the kit? I see Tuner Depot has a kit (Mini Maxx) for $1,350, Diesel Dudes has one (Bully Dog) for $1,750, Empire Diesels has one (Bully Dog) for $1,550, and SPELab has one (Mini Maxx, with a CCV kit) for $1,650. I was probably also going to do the CCV reroute, so that's not really a factor except for the price.
Is there a real difference between the MiniMaxx and the Bully Dog and are any of the tunes/EGR Kits really better or worse?
