I have 2 E350s. one 2002, one 2004. Each one has a dana 60 semi-float rear axle. I want to put a full float in each one. Does anyone know what years interchange. I have been loking, and everyone I find is a semi float.. I have a full float from a 99. will it interchange? Thanks for any reply.
All I can add is I also have a 99 E350 that is full float D60. I don't see any reason it wouldn't interchange. Has the same flange as 95 and 06 E150's I've got. Driveshaft length compared to an 8.8 would probably be slightly shorter due to longer snout. Shouldn't be an issue for what you want to do.

Why? What are you doing that will overtax the 6k rated semi float D60? The FF version used in vans is only rated for about 500lbs more, the axles used in other trucks isn't a direct swap due to differences in spring perch locations and side axle lengths.
Over the years I have chewed up 2 semi float rear axles. I haul alot of weight. Not nescisarily, up to the weight limit, but I am not a big fan of the whole design. I prefer the large tapered bearings vs. the rollers. Not only that, but the whole design is much easier to work on. Just a preference.
For some reason my last reply didnt post,so. Over the years I have chewed up 2 semi float rear axles. The semi float may have the weight capacity but I am not a big fan of the whole design. I prefer the large tapered bearings to the rollers. Just a preference I suppose
Yeah the FF is a beefier design for sure. There was a rash of faulty bearings in axles through the early 2000's, I had an 04 with an axle that howled loudly and my father had the same problem with an '04 or '06 F150. He had his rebuilt but I ran mine until the truck was scrapped and it never got any worse. 1-ton vans are where you will find a FF but they have to be standard passenger/cargo vans not a cab & chassis due to the spring perch location differences mentioned earlier.
