I see a lot of options for V8's but see very few for my 300i6. There is one place that sells the Dura Spark, but there is a 3 month wait to get one. I have read a number of posts here, and most people desribe the lesser expensive hardware as a P.O.S. Are there any obscure shops or sites that I am missing? When I have to replace parts, I always try to make some kind of performance upgrade. It doesn't have to be Dura Spark, but I don't want to have to replace the distributor again in the next 10 years or so. Are there still kits to rebuild a Dura Spark? Any suggestions?
I’ve not seen any ‘rebuild kits’ available. I rebuilt my Motorcraft, and have a couple Motorcraft spares. Unfortunately, I don’t think Motorcraft is making the stator (PIP/hall sensor) anymore. So pretty much anything you buy, as long as it has a new stator, will all be aftermarket unfortunately.
That said, I’m not 100% convinced some of the Motorcraft parts are the best anymore either for vehicles this old. From what I can see, Motorcraft is slowly stopping their support for older vehicles across the board.
As far as Dura spark, no idea what they have for kits, never looked into it.
