I have a 2024 F-250 XL. Every day I drive about an hour on country Texas roads to/from work. At the same spot each way my CarPlay shuts down. It happens during a stretch of perhaps 100 yards. Maybe less. Happens both ways. There's a nearby cell tower, but it happens right in front of the same piece of property. The first time I drove by and CarPlay went off line I thought I was going to have to come in for a warranty issue. After a week of the same spot, I thought some jamming was going on. Now months later, it's becoming just a pita. I have no confidence that there is anyone who will give a "darn" about enforcing anything. Whether it's a wifi jammer or something wonky with the cell tower. No way is that going to change. The ask is, can I connect my phone (iPhone) to the Sync4 thru BlueTooth or does it always have to be thru wifi? Another point: it's always plugged into the USB-C charging on the dash. If BlueTooth is a nope, can I direct connect? Thanks for any insights.
If you are using carplay it has to be directly connected or wifi. If you are using wifi. It actually connects bluetooth first and then switches to wifi. It is all part of the handshake connection. After it does connect. Try turn off bluetooth in that area. See if it still drops.
There's a local laundromat in my little town that has a "dead zone" about the size of 3 parking spots on one end of the building.
If you park some Fords there, you will not be able to push button start the vehicle when you return. Whatever the interference is, it steps on everything, including the FOB antennas.
Ironically there is a locksmith next door and when you step in to see if they have FOB batteries for sale, they ask you if you are parked on the side of the laundromat. 😳
This is how they rescue the unfortunate.......
They have one of those reflective windshield sunscreens and he folds it out and holds it in his hands while standing on the North side of your vehicle. He tells you to get in the vehicle and start it up (which it works!) and put it in reverse BEFORE he folds the sunscreen back up.
The reason for putting it in reverse immediately is that some Ford's will not shift out of Park if the FOB isn't detected.
Apparently if you back up about a car length or more, the vehicle is no longer in the mysterious dead zone.
I only tell the story because maybe it's possible that it isn't just CarPlay that is affected in the "zone" you are driving through? And just for fun, maybe you do some experimenting with shielding? (of course you would have to pull over and park somewhere in the zone)

I have this same issue with my Ram on a stretch of road about 3/4 mile long, it's all farm fields with a cell tower about a mile in the distance. There are a couple houses along there but it doesn't necessarily cut out in EXACTLY the same spot...just along that 3/4 mile stretch. Does not do it on any of our Fords.
HOWEVER
There is another stretch in a different area, similar environment, where all of our Fords will drop CarPlay randomly in a 3/4 mile stretch. My Ram...completely unaffected.

Okay that is just wild. I'd fence off the dead zone so no one parks on it.
@Snakebidden - Oh great, I now need to find a new commute through some rural roads! /jk That is just mind blowing.
I did some research. I think what I need to do is to tell my iPhone to forget the F-250 on CarPlay. When I get back in, I'll set it up so that it only works when plugged into the charger and wave off the wifi connection. It kind of sucks, but if it's going to be reliable each day - I'd rather go that route. Now, I just need to be sure I don't turn off the truck near that spot....
WiFi & Bluetooth operate at 2.4ghz. Technically also 5ghz & now 6ghz, but doubt Sync uses those frequencies. Key fobs usually run at 433mhz, less commonly in the 915mhz band. Cell has various bands around 900 & 1.7-2.2.
433 & 2.4 are ISM bands (Industrial Scientific & Medical). They are less unregulated, so the FCC is less likely to hunt down jamming on them. Cell stuff is rather unlikely to cause interference. Military stuff & radar are more likely to cause issues. RF from various industrial electronics can as well. These days jammers for various frequencies are easy to buy or build.

That's what I would do... just forget it and plug it in. You do lose a bit of the convenience, of course.
Sync is one piece of weak software, and very likely hardware. I liken it to a Commodore 64 in the era of Intel Core chips. Just last night I couldn't get the phone to pair up on Sync, I had to reset the system... which still didn't work. So... I just plugged it in. Whatever.
@GrouseK9 I also drive through two spots on Interstate 20 between Shreveport and Dallas where I lose my connection, screen goes black and starts a soft reset. There is a Love's between Canton and Terrell TX and I think it may have something to do with all of the signals coming from the truck stop. It's super annoying - and very reliable, happens every time. I've never tried to roll thru there being hard wired w/ CarPlay. I'll see if that does anything - I doubt it.

me to
at times it gets me heading west just past the blue compass rv store... i loose cell and pandora will freeze ,
there is 2 small airports in the area, not sure if it has any effect.
no prison though
Ok, going tethered worked. I went into my iPhone's settings under CarPlay and told it to forget the truck. Then went to the wifi settings and told it to forget the truck's wifi. Finally, turned everything on and plugged the phone into the charger. Once I did that it asked if I wanted Carplay - Yep - and if I wanted to connect wirelessly - Nope. Now works the old style way. Tried it out this a.m. and no interference. Just like all my older trucks that didn't have wireless capabilities. Well, it was fun while it lasted!

Glad it worked but that stinks. Oh well, the wireless feature is okay locally. It sure is handy.

Something you might want to try...
I don't have any of the wifi stuff enabled on my truck, and I don't normally have problems with it dropping my phone (when connected via CarPlay.) I can sometimes, like I mentioned above, have a problem getting it to recognize my phone and connect, but it rarely drops once connected. Of course, plugging it in solves everything... but sometimes I'll forget I have it plugged in and just about rip the cord out of the dash.
I really wonder if there isn't too much going on, sometimes... wifi and bluetooth, and the different GUI's. Instead of a handshake between units, they are flipping each other off.
