Hi fellow members,
i have an issue with my new front brake hoses. Bought the stainless steel kit from LMC, but the hoses pinch in my front axle u-joints when turning the steering wheel. (4x4 front axle). The hoses don't seem to be swivel at the steel line connection, so i cant turn or twist them. I've tried installing it 90 degrees to its current position (see pictures) but the block doesn't let me bolt it into the caliper. I've tried twisting the hose in other directions to install it, but it makes it too short. Unfortunately i had take off the old hoses a while back without noting their position. I've heard the LMC kit can be tricky to install...What am I doing wrong ?
Never used that particular hose, but that's not going to work. normally hoses are interchangeable but possibly you need to reverse sides if the block is holding you up. the swivel should be on the hard line.
I too run the same T-bird calipers. I bought the items needed to change to Earl's SS hoses, but I had in a box brand new never used '77 F-150 rubber hoses, so I used them but will go to the SS once they show need to replace.
I did have to slightly modify my T-bird calipers to properly accept the F-150 block hose ends, also drilled the banjo bolt holes larger to use correct for T-bird 7-16-24 Banjo Bolts (Fragola #650150).
Then the F-150 block hose ends will properly clock the hose. If you bought SS hoses with the block ends, this will do it. You'll see a series of rings around the hole for the banjo bolt, slightly recessed. That's the seal surface for the copper seal washer, DO NOT HARM IT. Also note, THE BANJO BOLT PORTION OF THE CALIPER GOES TOWARDS THE TOP. It will then point the hose end up in line with the ball joints pivoting, and the hose will clear.
Like this, also gets the bleeder up higher as air rises in brake fluid. Need to get air out at bleeds.
I couldn't tell how you did yours, but looks like you did it with calipers reversed side to side.
