I'm thinking there is a lot of parts that are going to dry up now with all that is happening with the trade wars. I'm glad that I have been stock piling the parts I need for the 56 project I'm doing..hopefully you'll find a place that has some on the shelf..

I remember when the stainless and/or painted parking lights were common but many had issues with fitment. I have some stashed in a box somewhere but can't guarantee the fit. Somebody else may chime in here...seems like the 55 and 56 housings/lights were close but not the same...true?

I bought 56 park lights way back when I did my panel from Midfifty and they didn't fit. When I called Midfifty about it they said they actually were 55 and that I had to bend them to shape. I asked why they sold them as 56's then and they said the ones I got were the only ones available . I still have those housings but no way they will fit a 56..

That's my recollection as well...thanks for the clarification. I went with a 53 grille in my 56...I don't even want to comment on the pains of that fiasco.

Not the greatest picture but here is a new 56 complete assembly and then an original 56 in the middle which has some pitting and the new 55 housings that came from Midfifty saying they will fit with a little bending and reshaping but the whole profile of them are different so left them as is rather than destroying them..

true
55 will not fit 56 but 56 will fit 55 but leave a large gap between the parking light frame and the grill

No. Since I hadn't decided on which parking lights I was going to use, the valence had yet to become an issue. There's an aftermarket "56" valence on there now but there were so many mounting issues with the 53 grille that I knew that I would have to fabricate the mounts from scratch.
