Ok 60 days post purchase and I have been able to clear virtually all the codes with some replacement parts and sweat equity. Cleared the last code today on the back up sensors when I sorted out that the sounder speaker was bad. What I have not been able to square away is all the codes that have something to do with 2WD/4WD/Transfer Case issues.
Full disclosure, this truck has had its surprises…one of which is a completely missing front prop shaft. It’s a V10 2005 model and has just shy of 299K on it. Transmission was replaced with a V10 F250 somewhere around 260K. I have the VIN for the truck and some research says trans was interchangeable (4R100). I now have a front prop shaft, new U-joints and factory re-install hardware (thanks Steve at Apple Ford).
The DTC codes are GEM P1876, P1832, P1865 and at one point P1812 but that self cleared.
I have done some basic reading to try and sort out but seems to me that they are likely all related. Any ideas from the group if there might be a common denominator?

Mine has 250K. I found the body of the vacuum pump was cracked and was causing the switching between 2WD and 4WD to be slow. Located on the passenger side firewall behind the battery on my 2002. I also removed and inspected the front locking hub assemblies and replaced the rubber O rings. Easy to do. Put two fingers in the back of the hubs to make sure they turn easily. One lock/uinlock dial was gummed up but otherwise OK.
So, today was all in all pretty productive. Cleared two of the three codes after discovering that the PVH solenoid was bad and bit the bullet and bought one locally so see if it fixed everything. Not quite and the P1865 code continued. Tested all down the line and took me to the transfer case and the shift motor. Took it off tested it and seems to work like it should. Did notice that the six pin connector was extremely loose and almost came off in my hand. After removing, cleaning and reassembly of the motor assembly, If I plugged the six pin assembly in and pressed it against the receptacle things came to life and for a very short while the code cleared. I drove in to town and looked at a new shift motor assembly and the issue doesn’t appear to be with my motor assembly but with the connector coming from the truck wiring harness. Looking at lots of different pictures, it looks like there is a sliding piece that moves inward to lock the connector in place….can anyone confirm this? Next question is of course does anyone have the part number to the connector assembly?
one listing on eBay says it’s a 3U2Z-14S411-BSB but yet when I cross that over to a 2005 Excursion, it says it’s not compatible…
