I agree with this, my 18' and 19' have a "sealed CCV" that I thought was just an open baffle design and was not prone to the high crank case pressures, but I do not see this version tested or cut open here. Has anyone seen the 17-19 sealed version cut open to know what it looks like?

Somebody with a 17 to 19 6.7 has to step up to the plate...

Or find a video...

Did you happen to use your flux capacitor to travel to the future for that filter?

There is a member on here who has a video showing a cut open 19, and I've posted a screenshot taken from a video showing a cut open 17 CCV box. The strange thing is, when I look at those and the one in this most recent video, I'm not seeing a difference. There have been others who cut open a pre 17 sealed box, and a slight difference could be seen in the number of holes in that circular piece inside.

If I was better at searching I would find the thread with a glimpse at the insides of a pre 17, and that of a 17-19.

Alright so now that we have everyone's attention here, lots of talk about the latest 23 CCV box design, are you all thinking that the little white ting is NOT a filter but what? Maybe this is supposed to last longer than the 20 - 22 design with the removable cover and non-replaceable filter in the rear like @jollyrogr said??

it’s not a filter… I think the shoot out video goes into it at around the 25 minute mark

Yeah I finally watched the second half of the video where he cut them open and saw the 23 one... and how it has a spring in it which will allow flow through holes there if there's an issue.

I like how much better it flows than the 11 to 16 box I have now... with my catch can set up, I just want better flow through the CCV box after the filtered gases flow through it.

Looks like I'm buying a 23 CCV box...

I ordered two of these, one for my 18' and one for my 19'. I had to have the upper pan re-sealed at 95K miles on the 18' and it is sitting at 130K miles with the original CCV box. I am not sure if the 18' or 19' ccv boxes have have pressure under load like the 11-16 in the video, but I do know that the new 23+ design has low pressures at idle and underload at least when new. My 19' has 75K miles and is upper oil pan is dry and I would like to keep it that way!.

I will run the 23+ design, at least for now or until there is a better option.

Beautiful... good luck with your trucks.

I have been running an oil catch can now fairly early in my truck's life, the Mishimoto oil catch can system. Earlier this year, I replaced the Mishi can with an Improved Racing CCR 0.5L can but still have the Mishi adapters in place under my original CCV box which run the input and output hoses for the catch can back to the rear port. The front port is blocked off so the catch can "cleaned" blowby flows through the box back to the intake. I want to say the catch can went in around 40k ish miles... currently at 137k miles.

My pan is still dry, and I think that's from me using an oil catch can. For me, I want something less restrictive than my 16 CCV box because the catch can already filters the blowby and the 23 is definitely that.

If I didn't have the catch can, I'd more than likely go with the SPE CCV box which can be maintained easily and cleaned, which I think is a great idea, like my catch can which can be emptied out and cleaned.

I'm curious how well the 23+ CCV removes oil from the vent stream. The low pressure drop has me very interested. The price is also reasonable.
