The Improved Racing CCR catch can I run now in with the recirculating adapter came with set up with a filtered vent, equipped with a fine sponge as a vent filter and came with a spare. The Radium Auto cans I was looking at also had VTA cans as well. They have two different steel mesh style filtering media in them... The CCR VTA is meant to be mounted under the hood as the sponge would get wet during inclement weather. Same with the Radium Auto VTA I'd assume. I always wondered how the SPE external catch can works. There has to be a vent in it.

I thought that was pretty informative as far as a comparison testing. Has me thinking about my 16 oem on the truck.

Yeah still have the same box. No issues, though I'm considering the SPE recirculating kit. I like the small size and easy serviceability of it.

Edit: I just watched the video bk1992 posted which was very informative. Looks like the 23+ CCV box is a good option too. Great first post @bk1992 and welcome to the forum

Thanks! I saw the SPE video last week going over the 23+ new style, and was sold on the SPE recirculating kit too. After watching this I think I'm going to stick with 23+ style. FYI for anyone out there with late build 22s, I have an 8/22 build and it came with 23+ filter.

Very good video. Solidifies my decision to delete the CCV altogether when I get my truck back from the dealer leak-free.

Yeah if I had the new box, I'd probably leave it as that one performed well. Who knows what the longevity is though. The SPE box had consistent performance but I agree with the guy in the video that you'll need to do regular maintenance to ensure the screen is clean.

The other thing to consider is that the SPE box doesn't have a CDR valve, but the CCV on my 2020 doesn't either

Guess the screen in the SPE or the filter in the 2020 CCV prevents too much vacuum?

He is mistaken. There was another sealed box, very much like the box he said was for the 11-16. It was used 17-19. Internaly there were slight differences. The box he claimed was 17-22 was actually introduced on the 20MY.

So, I first ran the Mishimoto oil catch can which has adapters under the OEM CCV box. It has a block off plate adapter so to speak, at the front port, and has the rear adapter with two hose fittings to intercept the blowby, send it to the catch can, filter it and then return it to the same adapter. I am now running the bigger and better designed Improved Racing CCR can. So essentially the filtered blow by runs through the box to the intake. I'm just wondering if I would get better flow through the box, with less pressure as a benefit, with the latest factory CCV box design that SPE pop pooed...

Dead nuts on how cheesy and cheap it is for SPE to ship their CCV box with freaking zip ties... wtf man.

Guess you need one of those digital manometers to check the pressure at your oil cap. Except you probably can't do that with the bypass filter oil returning there.

You must be reading my mind...

Or I get one of those boxes like you have. with the lid/screws, with nothing inside. I'll research this more before doing anything. I just want a box with more flow through it as I'm already filtering the blowby with catch can.

Nah you don't want one like mine. Apparently there is a non-serviceable filter in the rear part of the box and it's small. I'm looking to replace with a 23+ style box or the SPE box.
