I have a 2016 ford f250 shortbed and am planning to take off in a 5th wheel for a few months. I am thinking of taking my tailgate off and replacing it with a 2x8 (or maybe 2x6. Do any of u know a place to buy a metal bracket to help do this?
I have never taken my tailgate off when pulling a fifth wheel. Just make sure to open it before you unhitch, and close it after you're hitched back up. I learned that from my dad years ago.
My FIL used to buy wind gates, but got tired of not having a backup camera. He now does the same as I do. Of course, I never removed the gate even when I didn't have a backup camera...I just hate the look of a truck w/o a tailgate.
