Thanks guys for all the suggestions.
well it turns out that the Dealership misdiagnosed the truck probably to make a bigger payday.
it was a leaking Def injector, he purchased the injector for $150 at a different dealer and swapped it at a Macdonalds parking lot.
A savings of $7850.00 dollars, Thank God that’s all it was.
That ripoff dealer just lost 2 customers for life, now that I remember, a buddy of mine had a similar incident in this dealer
where he had a bad carrier bearing on his Ranger and they tried to sell him an entire driveshaft a $900 part. He took it to a local independent shop I know and they swapped the bearing out no problem. Maybe $150 part
that makes 3 customers they lost.

Most dealers have the worst diagnostic skills in their "Tech's" and often you will get a bad judgement as to what is actually wrong.
Good that you got it figured out and didn't have to spend the big bucks.
