Thank you to everyone that responded to my previous thread. I am building a 460 and I was trying to install an HEI distributor and I was stopped because of the thermostat housing getting in the way of the distributor sitting all the way down in the block. I tried rotating the distributor around but still could not get it to clear. Is there a different thermostat housing I could get so that there would be enough clearance for the distributor? Thanks so much. Dawson.
And you found out why the HEI is not the best dist. to be using in anything not GM.
What was wrong with the DS II dist. and if you are swapping in the 460 in place of something else you could have bought a DS II for a 460 that would have cleared.

Exactly this...
You have created your own problem. The solution is to use the correct distributor.
