Leaking Solenoid

I just noticed this leak around the drivers side VCT solenoid. I searched and couldn’t find much specific to the 6.2L engine, mostly on other forums for other engines

Has anyone else had this problem? Does it affect the engine? As far as I can hear, there’s no abnormal knocking or similar sound.

Think I've had the same weep for years. Should be pretty easy and cheap to fix. I'm actually wanting to swap out the cam covers for a set of the aluminum ones... Might was well do plugs and wires while at it.

That's good to know yours leaks and you haven't noticed any issues
Is it just a seal that dried/shrunk and has let oil pass?

If it's anything like the 4.6 or 5.4, yes, it's a seal around the vct solenoid. After my last post, I found a set of aluminum covers... They'll be here tomorrow. Need to determine which seals and gaskets I need. Think they're considered early production up to like 10/2011. Not expensive either way.

Lo

looks like the seal is easily pulled using a small pick. I'd put a thin coat of the right stuff around the outside just to be safe.

those are nice looking valve covers

I'd love to hear some feedback when you pull the solenoid - if you could have done it with the valve cover installed or if you needed access to inside (valve cover off), thanks!

I've done it on 4.6 and 5.4 motors. Used a dental pick to remove the old seal from the top, without removing the valve cover. Upon inspection of the new covers, the 6.2 appears to be the same.
