I have another thread here about improving engine performance - thank you all for your contributions. I have a new question about the next step. In addition to improving engine performance, I want to install an automatic transmission (that is most of the reason for needing more performance). If I want to break the limitations of the present ECU, I will have to buy another one. If I put a E4OD or a 4R100 in, I will need to install some kind of electronic device to help the engine "talk" to the transmission. If I am buying a new ECU, can I find an ECU that will also do that function, i.e. communicate with the transmission as well as controlling the engine, so that I don't have to buy two devices?
As stated previously any aftermarket controller that can handle the engine and electronic transmission is not cheap. Price just a transmission controller for comparison.
Staying factory is cheaper but does limit the HP/TQ goals and custom transmission shifting.
