I just recently installed the S&S Diesel disaster kit on my 2011 f250 and after installation the truck had a long start but it did start. after about a minute of it running I shut it off to gather up my tools which took around 30 minutes or so and I cranked the truck back up and after about 30 seconds of idling the truck shut of with no warning.
I verified all of the new fuel line connections, and I primed the system 10 times, cranked and it did not start, I had a p2291 code pop up and using the code reader I looked at live data and while cranking the FRP_A_CMD was 5500+ and FRP_A was jumping between 104 and 140.
I called S&S the next morning and the person on the phone suggested to use an extension and a hammer to hit the head on both sides of the pump while cranking and it should dislodge any air bubbles or blockages in the pump. after putting a jump pack on the batteries and hitting the pump (not super hard) the truck fired right up.
Just wanted to make this post for anyone that had the same issue because when it happened to me I couldn't find a fix till the next day and couldn't help but think of the worst.
I installed mine in July 2023. I have the original version with the Parker SNAPP filter that has the clear bottom on it. I primed it a BUNCH of times as it seemed I could still see some bubbles but when I change my fuel filters, I go between 12 to 16 priming cycles to be safe. The first time I changed filters, when I did the 6 priming cycles as suggested in the manual, it didn't fire right up but took a little. I promised myself I would go at least double that to be safe.
After install, IIRC, mine started right up with no problems...
