The truck is a 2015 F-150 4x4 sport, 3.5L with 351k on it. The truck has had regular maintenance over the years but now is starting to show it's age and the truck currently has a no crank issue. All the simple stuff has been checked, next to new Battery with clean tight connections. The starter had just been replaced not to long ago, didn't find any bad fuses and even the ignition switch was changed within the last 3 months.
The truck started out with having an intermittent no crank issue and now with the key turned the dash lights still come on, but will not crank. The truck has a manual tilt and telescoping steering Column and I noticed with the truck in park, the steering wheel does not lock anymore. Might this be related to the no crank issue ? If not, how do I go about finding the problem. Thank you.
The ignition switch was just changed and no extra keys hanging off the ring. When I turned the key it seemed to have more then normal play in the tumbler assembly and didn't really want to spring back when trying to crank the engine.
Since it just had a new ignition switch, I didn't know if a sloppy key tumbler assembly would cause a no crank just by itself being bad?
I believe there is a starter relay under the hood, in the fuse box..... or at least there is on mine.
Swap that with one nearby and see if that does it.
Before you wander any further off into the bushes, does the display in the instrument cluster say anything interesting when you try to start the truck. Like "Starting System Fault"....
