Dash light electrical problem!
The truck I have is a 1979 F-350 4x4. I went to turn on my lights and saw the dash lights flickering and was effecting the truck idle. I turned on my CB and could hear a short over the radio as the dash lights would flicker. Eventually the dash lights went totally out, but no driving lights. The headlights were fine and at one point the driving lights came on but would still flicker. I have blinker lights and brake lights but no running lights. With the ignition key off, I turned on the parking lights and I could hear crackling and a pinging coming from the light switch. I changed out the light switch and it was the same. Any ideas on this? I was told that the key tumbler/ignition switch could be the problem, but all this is with the key off. At this point, I am disconnecting everything one by one and took out the radio, but still nothing. The truck runs fine, I just can't turn on the lights. Thanks in advance! .
