Went to change the air filter in my truck and could not remove the electrical plug for the MAF sensor, to open the airbox. .The red locking tab moved back and forth, but I couldn't remove the plug itself. It worked perfectly for the last filter change. I made several attempts but was reluctant to put too much force on the plug. I tried multiple times with no success. The locking tab moves freely between locked and unlocked. Thought about removing the MAF sensor but didn't want to go down that rabbit hole. Could use some advice. Thanks in advance...

I've been able to undo the hose clamp and remove the air box lid without removing the MAF plug, or you could unscrew the MAF sensor itself.
I tried what you suggested, but it would not release no matter how I tried to push. If I have to remove the MAF sensor, is it something delicate or can I simply put a baggie on it to protect it while change the filter? No alignments or adjustments, just put it back in? Thanks in advance.
Part of the red locking tab must have broken off and is still holding it. No alignments or adjustments on the maf. Be very careful of the delicate wires on the sensor itself, other than that just pull it off and pop it back on.
