Air filter options

Whats everyone suggest for an air filter? My oem style is wore out an i want to try and get something better. K and n is out because i dont like them. And i would like to stay away from oiled filters. I was thinking about trying an open element filter but my question is what do i do with the sensor that goes into the top of the airbox lid? Whats it do and what do i do with it if i go to an open element air filter?

Im either going to go with an open element, a spectre drop in, or an aem dry filter.

I would use the AEM cone open element , don't like spectre , just mount the sensor next to the filter , you will need to make a bracket to hold it and the filter....Lew

Its the air intake temp sensor , measures the air intake temp , you may need a small piece of tube , but the filter should go onto the MA meter....

If you keep the old filter box, I'd go with a purolator filter. If you ditch the box, then I agree with Lew, AEM makes great cone filters.

I would keep the stock air box and use the I6/460 tube that gets cool air from behind the grille. Just use a Motorcraft, Wix, Purolator filter.

I have had the hot air intakes before and the results were lousy.

Especially if your truck is stock or close to it, don't waste your time with it.

The best choice is obviously a stock style paper filter. I like Wix.
