I just bought a project 1957 Ford 2dr sedan. The PO gave up when his wife died and about all I know is it has a 95 Mustang 302 HO with a roller cam and a 5 speed trans. I have a 1957 with the original 312 4V that should be road ready in a couple weeks, still needs new brakes and I need to swap transmissions. I know the is a truck forum but the engines should be the same, I have 2 1964's and a 94 F150 plus the wife's 2012. This only part of the fleet around my shop. The green will be on the road soon and the yellow is the work in progress with the 5.0. any info on the engine or trans is appreciated, I have a lot of research to do on the project 57..
I’d say ditch the 302 and get a 94 or newer truck 351w f4te.
i say that because you have a pretty heavy car, what’s the weight if the car? I’m sure it’s more than the mustang it came from.
dies it still have the stock efi and runs?
the stock mustang trans maybe be fine, depends with how your gunna drive it.

It has a Sniper EFI fuel and ignition systems. I'll probably keep it as a weekend driver for cruising, I have a 94 F150 I drive around town for errands and a 22 F350 when we travel with the RV. I bought the green 57 because it was like the one I drove in high school with a different trans. and the project came about looking for 57 parts. I found a rebuilt transmission from a local guy. He had it is a show quality 57 that he built and drove a bout 4 months. He decided not enough power so he went with a 429 C6 combo and had the Ford-o-matic 3sp laying in his shop, it's in mine now. He was the one told me about the project one belonged to a friend of his. I have worked on Y blocks and 351W's, I have a bunch of then but know nothing about this 302HO. Kind of looking at where to start with this engine swap, what to watch for or what would make it better and reliable, living in the out back I don't want broke down away from home if it can be avoided. The green should be on the road in a week or two after new brakes and swapping transmissions.
