So my hubs stopped engaging automatically but would lock in if I turned the **** to lock. They had the dreaded broken plastic tabs. I bought new hubs from the dealer- ford hubs not aftermarket. I installed them this weekend and today I turned the **** to 4x4 and it didn’t lock in. I got out and turned the **** to lock and was able to get out.
so did I install wrong? I took old hubs off, turned new hubs to lock and slid them in and bolted them down
or do I. Have a vacume leak? And if so how do I troubleshoot this?

If you replaced the hubs and the symptoms didn’t change it wasn’t the hubs as @Ltngdrvr suggested in your other thread. You need a hand held vacuum pump and gauge to test the system. I would also make sure that the solenoid is switching to apply vacuum to the hubs when placed in 4Wheel drive.
