I got a 93 ford f 150 with the 5.0L fuel injectected engine. The truck sat for a couple of months and I decided to bring it back and start driving it and it ran terrible, missing, stalling, and the whole nine. So i did a full tune up, New spark plug wires, sprark plugs (gapped to spec), oil+filter, and a new distributor cap. The truck ran great when I hit the gas and no longer missed. Fast forward the truck will run great when going down the road but will at any giving time it feels as if its cutting out and the truck is missing and rarring back, but if I stomp the gas itll go away. Im also having issues with idle, its sparactic some days and some days itll be fine and itll randomly stall idling or when I put it in gear. Does anyone know what could be causing this because I am at a loss?
Also I have replaced- Vacuum lines, IAC sensor, Fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, cleaned the throttle body, coil to the distributor, temperature sensor, battery, MAP sensor
Did you sweep test the TPS sensor with an analog multi meter? Are your grounds in good condition? Including the braided grounding strap? And you have gotten fresh gas in there? If you have a fuel pressure tester you can hook up and tape to the windshield you can take a rip and see if it's a intermittent fuel pressure issue.
Also you do need to have the tune up done. So wires and plugs and distributor if it needs parts. Aswell the computer. It contains electrolytic capacitors that leak. And the board needs to be repaired before it fully fails. It's old enough to be guaranteed faulty. A gremlin lives inside it. And he does weird stuff. If you have an AM radio tune it to some static and turn it up. Listen and if can hear EM interference as you rev it you're leaking current.
Does it have any codes present? Check engine light on? It never hurts imo to pull the ECU on these trucks and have a look inside for capacitor failures.
I will definetly check this out today. My fuel pressure is sitting dead out at 35psi but may change if I take it down the road so I will definetly check this. Also where is the computer located?
Thank you, got it pulled and it was super corroded in it housing and was a hastle to get out. Found 2 blue diodes seems theyve been breaking down as there is blue on the circuit board and another blue diode one of the legs had completly corroded and broken off. Gonna order one from autozone and have it programmed. Hoping this will fix my problems.
