///// how do you remove speedometer cable from speedometer? /////

Hi All,

I'm trying to remove my speedometer cable from the gear cluster but I can't seem to figure out how to pull it out without damaging something..

How is the speedometer cable removed from the speedometer on the gear cluster?

I somehow managed to do it once a long time ago to put the new speedometer cable in but for the life of me I cannot remember how it was done or maybe I just got lucky before LOL

Pics

Thanks in advance for any and all help

You just push the white plastic tab and the cable can pull off
Push the cable on there first and then push the tab is the easy way

Hi all

Thanks for the replies I just didn't want to try to break anything but I had one last question

I'm guessing in the last picture the big silver piece that stays on the speedometer assembly I'm assuming so when I push the white tab does the white tab plastic piece stay attached to the silver metal piece to the left and then the cable pulls out by itself or is the cable physically attached to that white piece and the white piece on the cable comes off as a unit and the big silver looking piece stays with the instrument cluster?

I hate trying to pry things too much for fear of breaking brittle plastic I've actually broken a few of the mounting tabs getting the trim off so I can even get to the gauge panel but that's nothing a little super glue and accelerator can't fix

And for anybody else out there I haven't had really good luck with super glue but with the accelerator spray I bought from Amazon it hardens up the glue really quickly and it seems to hold so that would be valuable lesson for anybody trying to fix plastic and it breaks and it if they don't have luck with crazy glue like I did use that accelerator stuff and it really sets up the crazy glue well I say crazy glue but I mean super glue technically crazy glue I think of the name brand

But thanks for answering this last question and all in the meantime maybe try pushing the tab and seeing what happens but not so hard that I'll break anything hopefully lol

The white piece comes down and away with the cable
Push the white tab and pull on the cable, it'll come right off
The silver piece (tube) it surrounds stays
