How to disconnect speedo cable?

Trying to remove the instrument cluster from my '78 F100 and can't figure how to disconnect the speedo cable from the back of the cluster. It has a white plastic retainer where it plugs into the back and need to know the trick in removing it. Any help is appreciated.

You squeeze the retainer and pull the casing away from the speedo head in one motion.
