DEF purchases

Just went through my tax stuff for the tax preparer tomorrow.
I bought $522.04 worth of DEF in 2024.
Up quite a bit from 2023, miles run was higher too though.

From memory I paid ~$80/yr (always @ truck stops) in DEF for the last 3 years. Truck is NOT a DD. When I am using it has a ~6k lb boat and tow and heavy truck camper in the bed.

I bought about 6 or 8 of those last year.
But, after sales tax and inconvenience added in, 2.99 a gallon at the truck stop is best.

Wish I was closer to IL. Figured I would check, 3 boxes, $70 to ship it to SoCal. I'll just hit Walmart sometimes it's $12.00/2.5 gal jug. Or I wait until I;'m in AZ when it's usually $9.99 or $8.99/2.5gal jug.

Dang !!! I guess you drive and tow a LOT more than me, so your usage would be higher. I rarely add DEF to my truck. My buddy has a 2018 and he and I seem to need it way less than our friend with a 2021 King Ranch.

Anyway, around here it is $3.99 a gallon at the truck stops - and the TSD card doesn't get me a discount on that. When you add it as infrequently as I do, it isn't an inconvenience at all to buy it at Rural King.

Yup, I put about 72,000 miles on last year, sitting at almost 223,000 now.
Yeah, if I didn't use any more than you do I wouldn't sweat going a little out of the way to buy those jugs either.

CEFCO truck stop in Jefferson TX.
They have quite a few locations in Texas, not all are 2.99, some as high as 3.49.
But, when I go in there, I fill my DEF tank, plus I refill a 2.5 gal jug.

$23 shipping kills the deal. Regional prices are not worth posting. Deleting is cheaper than shipping in the long run.

I go to rural king when I am on my trips, I do not get it shipped, and wouldn't.
And, regional prices ARE worth posting because it might be convenient to many on here, this is not just a forum dedicated to your personal interests.

Texas is quite a trip to save a couple $$ on DEF. LOL. Since DEF is pretty much the same price regardless where I go around here, I go a few minutes out of my way to fill Diesel when I need Def. I don't use the boxed stuff, never did.
