I finally got around to replacing my passenger window which was broken when I bought the truck. Cut off all the silicone a PO used and installed all new weather strip.
Had issues with the vent window and the 16th/in tape. No way I could get that to go in and I didn’t want to break anything. So I ordered thinner tape. A bit frustrating at times but straight forward. Now on to the drivers door……
What engine dos it have? What's the most serious work you had to do so far? Looks perfect!! Thanks for the pics.
226 6 cylinder. 4 speed no synchro.
Rebuild carburetor. Polarize the generator. Fix water temperature gauge. Clean gas tank and install new sender.
‘The window has been the hardest part.
Please share the secret to getting the glass installed. I am struggling trying to get the glass into the door of my 51 five star.
I just can’t seem to get the glass to fit into the bar and fuzzy channel.
Glass goes in from the bottom of the door. . Front channel bar is left unbolted at the bottom, raise the glass up ensuring it is going into both channels. Hold the glass up, I used a wedge of wood. Now install the bolts for the front channel bar loosely then lower the glass and attach it to the winding mechanism. I then raised and lowered the window noting the position of the front channel bar and when I was happy with the location I tightened the bolts.
Hope this helps.
That’s what I have attempted-its almost as if the channel frame is at a weird angle, Might just be too tight with the new felt channel and the tape I have in the bar?
did your glass go in the channels freely without objection or was there a bit of a fight?
The hardest part was lining it up with the channels. As you say the angles are weird. I put it in the back channel first, moved it about half way up then as the front channel was loose I was able to get it in there.
